WMC is a rural general practice.

Office hours are 9:00am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday and 9:00am to 1:00pm Saturday.

WMC runs its own on-call outside of these hours and is contactable by dialing the surgery phone number 24/7 every day of the year.

Our experienced team of doctors, nurses and support staff are focused on providing the highest standard of professional healthcare. To help you stay in good health we offer additional services such as immunisation and cervical smears as well as education and information clinics for specific health problems such as asthma and diabetes.

Meet our Doctors

The current Doctors at the medical centre are:

Dr. Donna Berry

MBChB BN PGDipAN PGDipPaed FRNZCGP

Donna began her journey in healthcare in 2003 when she qualified with a Nursing degree and worked in a cardiac care and cardiothoracic/vascular surgical ward before joining the WMC team. While working as a Practice Nurse in Whangamatā she completed her Prime training and a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Nursing.

In 2014 Donna graduated from the Auckland Medical School and began her GP training in 2017. She has spent time working at Whakatane Hospital and Te Kaha Medical Centre on the East Coast before moving back to Whangamatā.

Donna has also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Paediatrics, a Certficate in Skin Cancer and is a fellow with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

Donna works in the clinic 4 days a week

Dr. Tasha Robertson

MB BS Dch FRACGP FARGP

Tasha qualified in Medicine from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery.

She has previously worked in Alice Springs; both in private practice and Emergency departments and for a number of years remote communities in Central Australia.

Tasha came to New Zealand with her Partner and Daughter in 2021.

 Tash works in the clinic 3 and a half days a week.

Dr. Michael Miller

MA(Hons Oxon) MPainMed MB BS FRNZCGP MRCGP DRCOG Dip Sports Med PGDip Health informatics PGDip Musculoskeletal Medicine(Dist) Dip Strat Leadership PGCertCPU

Michael qualified in Medicine from the Middlesex Hospital, London and came to New Zealand in 1990 having spent 6 years in the Royal Air Force and 7 years in civilian Practice in rural Essex. He completed vocational training in General Practice in 1983.

Michael’s areas of special interest include musculo-skeletal and sports medicine, ultrasound, dermatology, emergency medicine, medical computing and rural medical politics.

He is a founding member and past treasurer of the NZ Rural GP Network; a past member of the Pinnacle PHO local management group, rural advisory group and GP executive committee. He is currently a member of Whangamatā Community Health, and the Midland Health Network rural advisory group.

Michael is married with 4 children and 6 grandchildren.

Michael is in the process of retiring and is no longer seeing patients for regular booked appointments. He has ultrasound clinics on a Thursday.

 

Dr. Wouter Jongbloed

LOCUM GP

Wouter is a long-term locum at Whangamata Medical Centre for 18 months.

He joins us from The Netherlands with partner Lizzy and 3 daughters and will be working with us until April 2026

Wouter is available in the clinic 4 days per week.

His experience and dedication ensure continuity of care and uphold the highest standards of medical service for our community.

Dr. Lizzy Stam

LOCUM GP

Lizzy is a long-term locum at Whangamata Medical Centre.

Originally from the Netherlands, she will be with us until April 2026, and is in clinic 3 days per week.

Lizzy will be part of our team for 18 months and is here with her Partner Wouter and 3 daughters.

Her expertise and commitment help maintain exceptional healthcare for our patients.

Dr. Gemma Argyle

LOCUM GP

Gemma  has joined Whangamata Medical Centre as a long-term locum.

Coming from the UK, she will remain with us until March 2026 and consults in the clinic 3 days per week.

Gemma will be part of our team for 12 Months a

Her professionalism and experience ensure our community receives consistent, high-quality care.

Dr. Ali Hamilton

LOCUM GP

Ali has locumed with Whangamata Medical Centre for numerous summers.

She joins us in January 2026 and is with us until March 2026.

Based in Hamilton, Ali splits her time between NZ and the UK and has a special interest in Menopause.

Her experience and commitment help ensure consistent, high-quality care for our patients.

Dr. Catherine Carragee

LOCUM GP

Catherine is a long-term locum at Whangamata Medical Centre.

Joining us from USA, she will remain with us until November 2026, working 3 days per week.

Catherine will be part of our team for 12 months.

Her dedication and skill contribute to the continuity and quality of our medical services.

Short-Term Locums

From time to time, Whangamata Medical Centre engages short-term locum General Practitioners to help manage periods of increased demand or to provide cover during annual leave for our regular GPs.

This ensures continuity of care and consistent access to quality healthcare for our community..
