St John Ambulance
Whangamatā Medical Centre has a modern up-to-date Emergency Room fully equipped to deal with most emergencies. Sometimes is it necessary to refer patients on to Thames or Waikato Hospital for further care. The St John Ambulance service, located opposite the medical centre, is well positioned for urgent transportation.

Whangamatā is effectively serviced by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. During the summer months it is based in Whitianga giving exceptional coverage and peace of mind to the community and its many visitors.
