Meet our Doctors
The current Doctors at the medical centre are:
Dr. Jon Elliott
BSc Hon, MD, FRNZCGP
Dr Elliott graduated from the University of BC, Vancouver, Canada in 1975 before moving to New Zealand to complete and internship at Waikato Hospital. After outback Medicine experience with the Flying Doctor Service in Queensland, Australia, and a one year surgical residency at Vancouver General hospital he decided to move into General Practice.
In 1979 he joined a General Practice surgery in Edgemont Village, North Vancouver where he stayed until 1991 when he relocated his family to Hamilton, NZ to enjoy a more rural lifestyle. In 2007 the Practice he owned in Hukanui was purchased by the Radius group and Jon took on a contract as a GP and Teacher for Family Practice Residents. During this time he would do summer locum stints in the small ferry-bound community of Powell River, BC, Canada. He eventually moved to Canada to assist with extreme doctor shortage in rural Canada.
Jon and his wife returned to New Zealand in 2018 to be closer to their four children and 6 grandchildren.
Jon works in the clinic on a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Dr. Donna Berry
MBChB BN PGDipAN PGDipPaed FRNZCGP
Donna began her journey in healthcare in 2003 when she qualified with a Nursing degree and worked in a cardiac care and cardiothoracic/vascular surgical ward before joining the WMC team. While working as a Practice Nurse in Whangamatā she completed her Prime training and a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Nursing.
In 2014 Donna graduated from the Auckland Medical School and began her GP training in 2017. She has spent time working at Whakatane Hospital and Te Kaha Medical Centre on the East Coast before moving back to Whangamatā.
Donna has also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Paediatrics, a Certficate in Skin Cancer and is a fellow with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
Donna works in the clinic 4 days a week
Dr. Michael Miller

Michael qualified in Medicine from the Middlesex Hospital, London and came to New Zealand in 1990 having spent 6 years in the Royal Air Force and 7 years in civilian Practice in rural Essex. He completed vocational training in General Practice in 1983.
Michael’s areas of special interest include musculo-skeletal and sports medicine, ultrasound, dermatology, emergency medicine, medical computing and rural medical politics.
He is a founding member and past treasurer of the NZ Rural GP Network; a past member of the Pinnacle PHO local management group, rural advisory group and GP executive committee. He is currently a member of Whangamatā Community Health, and the Midland Health Network rural advisory group.
Michael is married with 4 children and 7 grandchildren.
Michael is in the process of retiring and is no longer seeing patients for regular booked appointments. He has ultrasound clinics on a Thursday.
Dr. Tasha Robertson
MB BS Dch FRACGP FARGP
Tasha qualified in Medicine from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery.
She has previously worked in Alice Springs; both in private practice and Emergency departments and for a number of years remote communities in Central Australia.
Tasha came to New Zealand with her Partner and Daughter in 2021.
Tash works in the clinic 3 and a half days a week.
Dr. Fiona Bolden
MB ChB MRCGP FRNZCGP
Fiona qualified in Medicine from the University of Bristol in England with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. She arrived in NZ with her young family in 2002.
She settled in Kawhia working in Whaingaroa/Raglan where she jointly owned a practice until December 2018 when she relocated to Whangamatā.
She is the Chair of Hauora Taiwhenua Rural Health Network since 2019 and has served on the Commitee since 2010. She worked for Midlands PHO as a clinical lead in mental health and addictions for four years and was on the Midlands Rural SLAT from 2012 to 2018.
Her focus is firmly on rural primary care, with a special interest in mental health.
Fiona works in the clinic on a Monday and Tuesday.
Dr. Mark Vaughan
BHB, MB ChB, Dip.Obst, Dip.Skin Cancer Med, FRNZCGP
Mark graduated from the University of Auckland in 1985. He completed a Dip.Obst at Middlemore Hospital in 1987 and subsequent vocational training as a GP registrar in Tauranga. He then worked for 35 years in Hamilton as a member of an urban group medical practice, including work as a GP obstetrician and secondary work at an accident and medical service . He spent time working in Tonga in 1999. He completed a post-grad diploma with the Australasian College of Skin Cancer Medicine in Brisbane in 2012. Since starting in rural practice in Nov 2023 he has completed Prime training.
Outside of work, Mark enjoys bush and alpine trekking, swimming and spending time with his wife, Penny, children and grandchildren.
Mark joined the WMC team in November 2023 and works in the clinic on a Thursday and Friday.
